Mildred Muhammad, Global Speaker & Best-Selling Author, Certified Domestic Violence Advocate, and Domestic Abuse Survivor will be the keynote speaker at Maryland Family Network's Strong Families Initiative conference. This year's theme is Every Day I Stand for Children.

As the ex-wife of the D.C. Sniper, John A. Muhammad, Mildred shares the very personal details of her experiences involving fear, abuse and many times, victim-blaming. Simply stated, she was a victim who became a survivor and is now a warrior on the issues of domestic abuse and violence.

The Every Day I Stand for Children conference will help parents as well as early care and education professionals from across Maryland learn tools to strengthen families to prevent domestic violence and child maltreatment. Attendees will also participate in Dare to Heal, a hands-on workshop led by Ms. Muhammad, that guides participants toward the promotion of resilience within family systems through journaling as a way to heal from trauma.
